Pondering Over (for a change)

Since last few years, we all gloried over the fact about how we are progressing, India shining & all that due to which brain drain seems to have considerably reduced. However, last Sunday TOI featured a report which brought forth the complete part of the story of NRI‘s returning to India. . Of course we did improve but unfortunately boasted more about it. The article had instances to show that how those returning back regret their decisions & are moving out of the country yet again. Our “Sab Chalta hai” careless attitude, no respect for other’s time & the fact, how one needs to be so dependent on others to get any work done topped the factors among various others which were cited as a part of their inability to continue with work here in their own country.

True indeed, especially in smaller cities, where professionalism easily takes a back seat to our comforts, traditions & any reason we name to escape our work. Being an Indian, its so much part of our work culture now , that we hardly realize it.Though differences do come up as one explores the scenario abroad & finds out how one’s efficiency increases under a more regulated work environment. Or on a smaller scale, simply look at the change in working style & hence the quality differences in a small town (may include even a state capital) & a metro city .It explicitly gives quite an idea about the differences which do exist.

Poor performance at Olympics could be another example of our lack of enthusiasm & inability to give the max. of our abilities, whether we talk in terms of infrastructure, support or dedication. This can be talked on & on but what we actually need is some action. A little more interest in our work could not only inspire those around us but also refuel our own efficiency & more than that, a little more respect for other's time even though they may seem to have it more than you & setting a better example, just another area where we can ape the west.

High On Exaggeration '!'

Final year had to bring in the final blow. Two months of convenient ,non technical dreamy life at home & am back to reality with a bang, again with all the dangerously technical sounding subjects surrounding me (as if 3 years weren’t sufficient enough to scare people like me, the born-intelligent-engineering-ruined-me types..!).However during lectures these days, I do manage to avoid my eyelids from crashing ! Thanks to all the time on Earth am getting, which I use judiciously to sleep, & hence I find that almost all classes are either a sort of review of what has already been mugged in previous sems like ‘cellular communications’ (at least till yet) or an outdated technology about something called telephones & landlines & exchanges & how they work if at all they still do..!

But whatever be am actually looking forward for 7th sem, lot many reasons (& CAT not at all being one of them) as I hope to get more technical gyan for the fulfillment of being an engineering grad, after all it does help, may be; summer trainings do prove that.

Coming back to the reasons, it seems like, lately everyone around is making sure they make the best of the last year of engineering ,hostel-life & all that before we enter the ever busy, real, dreaded actual life. Like DJ aka Amir Khan in RDB rightly said “life makes us dance outside the campus like we make it dance inside” (kindly bear with the loses while translation, the MTV ishstyle..! like I ignore all the red & green warning lines while typing ).So here we are, all set for theme birthdays, hangouts together, partying for the slightest of reasons & lotsa more planning as we create memories to cherish with still time to worry about the so-called ‘Quarter-life crises’(believe me it exists), which now seems to be nearing soon, thanks to all the ‘feel good’ about being the senior most..! But as of now it’s better to switch to the relaxed mode (till exams hit our peaceful lives yet again!) with finger-crossed-countdown, positively hoping for my next post coming from my internetted hostel room..!

(No)stalgic already

Scene 1:

The multitudinous crowd, the ever waiting long queues, the lifeline local trains, the never ending, most unwelcome d yet omnipresent, unavoidable traffic jams & checking out the latest models in the what-to-do-got-stuck-in-jam situations, of course I mean the vehicles! as one keeps switching the FM channels, the ever teaching fast-life which tutors you the funda of Survival of the fittest & wondering who says that Darwin’s Theory needed Biology classes to be understood. The beautiful & famous corporate high rises.Lot to learn.

Scene 2:

The dark, cloudy sky as I peep outta my window, the never ending rains, the slowly converting roads into rivers, society ground into swimming pool & so on, then the coverage on the news channels, with everyone suddenly more interested in the tide timings , ever hoping that it doesn’t coincide with theirs, & BMC messaging everyone to avoid venturing out for unimportant works & I, happily deciding (& of course approved by others) not to go to my training office, with a TV remote in my hands , hot coffee in other, all along with Mommy-made breakfast, seated on the most comfortable place on Earth, my drawing room sofa.

Finally final year & life seems to have turned completely just like how my weak section shifted from DI, I ridiculed about in my previous post, into Verbal.
